About Me
I have been dedicated to helping clients through the difficulties of their life for over 30 years. Prior to becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist I have had a career in the field of physical therapy. In that capacity I have helped individuals and their families through life altering injuries, disabilities and illnesses. To my psychotherapy practice I bring years of experience, wisdom, compassion and understanding of the varied issues life can present.
From my experiences working with clients in physical therapy I realized what I enjoyed most was my ability to connect with the larger picture of what was happening in each client's life beyond their physical injury or illness. Early on I learned that progress could not be made in their physical recovery if the client was overwhelmed emotionally. With empathic connection to the client's experience of fear, regret, grief, shame, or anger I could help them to stay present, a calming place to start our work toward the goal of their recovery. Knowing what I enjoyed most was that human connection I decided to change my career from physical therapy to psychotherapy.
I earned my degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. My approach with clients is to gain understanding from the client's perspective about their unique life circumstances and how internal and external events have affected them. I believe in the importance of connection, understanding and support in order to begin our work together.
I look forward to accompanying you on your journey toward personal growth and healing.
